We are currently looking for a Senior Web Developer who brings a deep expertise in building and maintaining medium to complex web solutions for various clients in various industries. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about digital innovations and who has a strong commitment to excellence and growth.

This is a full-time permanent position and fully remote, with the possibility to work from our downtown Toronto office for residents of that area.

About the role

As a Senior Web Developer your role will be to create seamless, interactive digital experiences by translating design concepts into code, integrating third-party tools, and ensuring reliability and security of all web solutions. By using modern web practices, you will work at ensuring that websites and web applications are functional, user-friendly, visually appealing, and optimized for performance, accessibility, and SEO. To accomplish your functions, you will work closely and collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to deliver engaging, high quality, high-performance, custom digital solutions that meet client objectives and drive business growth.

What you will do

Web Development and implementation:

Develop, customize and deliver responsive, dynamic, secure, scalable and easy to maintain web solutions using engineering best practices and relevant coding standards.
Write clean, scalable, and maintainable code following industry best practices.
Convert design mockups and wireframes into fully functional, interactive web pages.
Implement and manage content management systems (CMS), primarily WordPress VIP, including plugin customization and theme development.
Develop enterprise-level WordPress plugins and/or themes primarily using PHP and Gutenberg blocks in React.js.
Manage integrations with third-party tools, APIs, and plugins.
Stay updated on emerging web technologies and digital trends to enhance service offerings.

Testing and debugging:

Perform website testing and debugging to ensure high-quality performance and smooth user experience across all browsers and devices.
Troubleshoot and resolve bugs, errors, and security issues.
Conduct regular website maintenance and security updates.

Optimization and Maintenance:

Ensure websites and web applications are optimized for speed, performance, scalability, SEO, and accessibility.
Maintain and update existing websites and web applications based on client feedback and to align with changing business needs and industry standards.

Documentation:

Maintain clear project documentation and code standards for easy collaboration and handoff.
Update technical documentation with any changes and decisions.

Collaboration & Teamwork:

Work collaboratively with design, engineering, quality assurance, product and project management teams to understand project requirements and deliver results that meet business objectives.
Manage time effectively and meet project deadlines while handling multiple tasks.
Participate in client meetings to share knowledge, discuss client challenges and identify the best solutions for various client needs and requirements.
Assist other developers on the team with architectural reviews, code reviews and other peer reviews.

What you need to succeed

Education, Experience and Knowledge

A post-secondary education in IT, computer science, or a similar field
At least 5 years of experience in a web developer role working on complex projects for a variety of clients of different industries.
Experience in a digital marketing agency is a strong asset.
Experience working with WordPress development (custom themes, plugins, and CMS management) and preferably at the enterprise level (WordPress VIP).
Advanced knowledge of engineering technologies including PHP, JavaScript, HTML, jQuery, SQL, CSS, React, etc, specifically in a WordPress environment.
Advanced knowledge and experience working with GiT and other code versioning tools.
Advanced knowledge and experience working with server management tools and processes such as cPanel, PHPMyAdmin, DNS, Cron Jobs, and bash scripting, ASP, and Apache
Advanced knowledge of testing and debugging tools
Advanced knowledge of RESTful APIs and third-party integrations.
Advanced understanding of web performance optimization, SEO, and web accessibility standards.
